Program Overview

Morning Classics — weekday mornings 6 to 10 a.m.

Join Omaha radio legend Otis Twelve Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for the perfect blend of music that’s both calming and inspiring. Jeff Koterba handles Wednesday duties on Morning Classics, and both bring you Symphonic Sunrise, featuring our Omaha Symphony, Morning Mozart, BBC news and Arts Today. It’s the perfect morning experience that will prepare you for the day ahead.

Midday Classics — weekday mornings 10 a.m. to noon

Whether you’re working hard or relaxing at home, Sherry Kennedy Brownrigg plays the perfect mix of classical, including the popular Tour de Force, a work of great magnitude and gravitas.

Midday Mixtape — weekdays at noon

Enjoy your lunch while listening to a specially curated classical music playlist put together by Ben Rasmussen. Every Friday, Ben welcomes a guest to the studio who brings their own playlist and stories of why the works are meaningful to them. Afternoon Classics — weekday afternoons 1 to 3 p.m.

KVNO Music Director Emily McIvor features uplifting classical music from 1 to 3 Monday through Wednesday, including your Daily Dose of Bach.

 

Classical Commute — weekday afternoons 3 to 6 p.m.

Coleen Cook helps you make an effortless transition from workday to evening with your favorite classical music during Popular Picks and Rush Hour Remedy that brings you instant calm. You might even learn to love the commute.

Performance Today — weekdays 6 to 8 p.m.

Hosted by Fred Child, Performance Today is America’s most popular classical music radio program. Fred features live concert recordings that can’t be heard anywhere else, as well as in-studio performances and interviews and the Piano Puzzler every Wednesday.

Exploring Music — weekdays at 8 p.m.

Bill McGlaughlin takes you on an expedition through the world of classical music using a weekly theme as the lens and following that journey wherever it takes him. Find out more about Exploring Music.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra — Mondays at 9 p.m.

The nationally syndicated series features live concert performances by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, recorded in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center, alongside selections from the orchestra’s expansive catalog of commercial recordings.

The Spanish Hour – Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Hosted by Candice Agree, this program allows you to meet the people of the Spanish-speaking world through their music. You’ll hear performances featuring Iberian and Latin American composers, conductors and performers.

 

 

Feminine Fusion — Tuesdays at 10 p.m.

A weekly radio program that highlights the influence of women in classical music. These are the women throughout history and into the present day who create, perform, and inspire. Find out more about Feminine Fusion.

SymphonyCast — Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

A two-hour weekly radio program featuring a full-length concert by a major orchestra. Material is drawn from Europe’s premier symphony orchestras, along with U.S. orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Nashville Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra. Find out more about SymphonyCast.

Modern Classics — Fridays 9 p.m. to midnight

Allyson Jay hosts three hours of top classical music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Discover old friends and new composers and compositions that just might become favorites.

Nocturnes — weekdays nights

Host Katrina Naraine is known for her deep, resonant voice and passion for music. A classical pianist herself, Katrina will help you unwind after a long day. Hear her Monday through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. and Sundays from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Starlight Classics for — weekday overnights

Michael Moriarty brings you great classical music all night long and into the early morning hours. Hear Michael weekdays from 3 to 6 a.m. and weekends midnight to 6 a.m.

Metropolitan Opera — Saturdays at 1 p.m.
