Opera Omaha kicks off its 51st season with the company’s 8th world premiere, THE BLIZZARD VOICES.  Composed by Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Moravec, THE BLIZZARD VOICES is based on the poetry of former U.S. Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser.  In conjunction with the  production, Opera Omaha is hosting the Voices Poetry Competition for youth through adults.  Submissions of original poetry by students, elementary through high school have a deadline of May 15th.  The deadline for adults is August 31st.  Winners of all categories will be announced prior to the THE BLIZZARD VOICES performances in September.  More information on the competition is available on Opera Omaha’s website. 

Film Streams’ next repertory series is EUROPEAN 60’s.  Jean-Luc Godard’s BREATHLESS and Francois Truffaut’s THE 400 BLOWS are the featured movies today and Thursday.  Show times vary and all screenings take place in the Ruth Sokoloff Theatre at 13th and Webster Streets.  

Film Streams’ current repertory series is EUROPEAN 60’s.  Federico Fellini’s LA DOLCE VITA and Michael Powell’s PEEPING TOM are the featured movies May 16th through the 22nd.  Show times vary and all screenings take place in the Ruth Sokoloff Theatre at 13th and Webster Streets. 

The Omaha Farmer’s Market  runs every Saturday through October 11th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The Market offers the city’s best selection of farm-fresh produce and meats as well as specialty items.  The selection includes gourmet prepared foods, cut flowers, bedding plants, handmade jewelry and more.  The Omaha Farmer’s Market is located at 11th and Jackson Streets in the Old Market. 

The IMAX Theatre is presenting SEA MONSTERS 3D daily at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The film highlights the complexity of life in Earth’s oceans.  DOLPHINS AND WHALES 3D: TRIBES OF THE OCEAN is screened at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.  The movie takes you from the coral reefs of the Bahamas to the exotic Kingdom of Tonga for a close encounter with the surviving tribes of the ocean.  WILD OCEAN 3D: WHERE AFRICA MEETS THE SEA shows daily at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.  The IMAX Theatre is located at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
