Opera Omaha kicks off its 51st season with the company’s 8th world premiere, THE BLIZZARD VOICES. Composed by Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Moravec, THE BLIZZARD VOICES is based on the poetry of former U.S. Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser. In conjunction with the production, Opera Omaha is hosting the Voices Poetry Competition for youth through adults. Submissions of original poetry by students, elementary through high school have a deadline of May 15th. The deadline for adults is August 31st. Winners of all categories will be announced prior to the THE BLIZZARD VOICES performances in September. More information on the competition is available on Opera Omaha’s website. |
